Hypnosis beside from being used as a tool for treatment of certain ailments, which requires behavioral changes, has also been used for entertainment. When it is used for entertainment, it is called a hypnosis show. The effect of hypnosis show is not lasting. It actually last until the show is over.
The hypnotist while performing in front of an large audience need to choose his subject matter wisely. The choices he makes regarding his volunteer have to be picked with care. Normally, the hypnotist has to pick out volunteers to put under a trance and once under a trance, he can plant any suggestions into the mind of that particular person.
Just like when hypnosis is used for therapy, for the hypnosis show, the hypnotist also requires the total cooperation of his volunteer for him to be able to put the volunteer under a trance. To help the hypnotist pick out suitable candidates for his show, he has to choose those who will listen to his command. By using a process call induction, he can tell from the audience who are more susceptible to his command. For example, he will ask the audiences to close their eyes and listen to his command. From this action, it is easy to see the willing participants from those who are not cooperative.
A person who resists the command of the hypnotist will never be selected. Any person who is sitting very alert in the audience is one such person. Any person who seems willing to participate in the performance of the hypnotist is the perfect volunteer.
When the hypnotist calls the willing volunteers onto the stage, this is when the actual show starts. One technique, which the hypnotist employs while calling upon the volunteers onto the stage, is to put a smaller number of chairs than participants on the stage. By doing so, this will create a competition among the volunteers.
Once under a trance, the hypnotist can command the volunteers to do whatever he wishes with them. The volunteers will totally be under his command as if they are sleeping. He can make the volunteers think that they are intoxicated. Or he can also make them think that they are from another planet speaking an unknown language. The volunteers will actually starts speaking in an unknown language. However, once the show is over, they will awaken from the trance and will show no effects or have any recollection of what just happened.

Quitting smoking is not the first thing you should do when you decide to become a non-smoker. Yes, you have read that right - but it’s true. Indeed, quitting is one of the last steps you should take on the road to quitting smoking. It is the end, not the means. If you start with quitting smoking, you are most probably going to fail, and all your efforts will come to naught besides the damage it will do to your personality, your confidence in yourself and much more.
Smokers, usually, are quite oblivious of the harmful effects of smoking. They continue to smoke until one factor or another brings the idea of quitting smoking to the forefront of their thoughts. It is often either a health scare or they finally notice the toll that smoking is taking on their bodies. The reason is immaterial; what is of significance is that the idea has finally dawned on them. This is an excellent starting point. From here on, if they follow the correct method to quit, they will succeed. And the correct method is of education and preparation before quitting smoking.
Preparation and education is the key to everything, including quitting smoking. You wouldn’t attempt to rebuild your car’s engine just because you bought a set of tools off the shelf, or sew a dress for your daughter’s wedding after picking up your first ever sewing machine, so please don’t think that you can buy an off the shelf smoking cessation aid and you are home free. You would have just as much luck getting your car’s engine back together properly as quitting smoking. Oh sure, eventually you might get it right, but why waste your efforts when the proper information is available to help you be successful the first time.
The internet is your answer to all questions. Look at the available stop smoking programs and really compare them. Judge each program on the basis of the steps they follow. Always give preference to the ones that go about systematically by first providing information and then preparing you for the goal. Don’t get caught by catchy slogans that promise to free you of your habit in a week or ten days. Remember, easy bought is easily lost. You need to do thorough comparison shopping before you buy a program. The program must encourage you to take your time to learn and prepare as opposed to placing your faith in a product that states that there is no effort required on your part.
Nothing comes without a little effort from you - especially this. Remember, quitting is the easy part - you just stop. It’s the preparations you take before you quit that determines if you’ll be successful or not. So make sure you have all the data you need before you try and you will be the success you want to be.
Happy Quitting,

One of the hardest things to do is to quit smoking. And when you’re just beginning the journey as a non-smoker, you can feel very isolated and alone. One of the keys to success of becoming a non-smoker is to set up a support system. Whether it be family support (be cautious in who you choose), online, or at a local smoking cessation meeting, having a support system is vital.
The online support option is fanatastic for those who have limited time in which to establish a local system. By joining up with community forums that host a smoking cessation board, you get the opportunity to speak with others looking to accomplish the same goal you are.
Many of the message boards have different sections pertaining to the process of beginning to quit. Look for sections that pertain to what your going through, oftentimes they will have sections on the board that will coincide with what you are going through on any particular day. It is very comforting to see that others are going through the very same thing you are, and often the advice the other nonsmokers have posted is very helpful when you’re facing the same thing.
Enlisting the support of family and friends, in most cases can be very helpful. One of the only drawbacks to this would be, that sometimes family and friends think that they are being supportive when in actuality by them reminding you over and over not to smoke they can actually be pushing you towards a relapse.
Many family members and friends mean well and think they’re being encouraging by doing this, when you’re going through withdrawal symptoms and are naturally more agitated, this can be detrimental to your success. Sometimes just discussing this with them, before your quit day, can help nip it in the bud and make it a smoother transition.
Perhaps there is a local support group that can help you as well. In most cases these are held for little cost or even free at local health centers, schools and even churches. Check them out for you may find them quite helpful.
Community support group meetings generally only last for an hour or so, but they are great place to make personal contact with others striving to become non-smokers. And it is this personal contact with a support buddy that could be just the help you need in staying smoke-free forever.
Whichever method you choose the chances for your success are greatly improved, by having a strong support system set in place, before your quit day. Making sure that you have utilized every tool that is available to you is only going to increase your chances of starting a new life as a nonsmoker.

Quitting smoking is not an easy thing to do. Anyone who has tried, even if they were successful, will likely say it was extremely difficult. There are a variety of ways to try and quit smoking. If one way is unsuccessful try another. Quitting smoking as soon as possible is imperative to your health and the health of those around you. Before beginning any non-smoking program be sure to discuss it with your doctor.
The method most people try is to quit cold turkey. Unfortunately, this method is rarely successful. Quitting cold turkey means that you stop smoking cigarettes completely and never have another one. A few people have the will power to quit cold turkey, but there is more than willpower involved with this process. Your body is physically addicted to nicotine, suddenly stopping will result in fairly serious withdrawal symptoms. Quitting cold turkey may work for some people, but generally most people will start smoking again within a few days.
Another option is to use nicotine gum or patches to slowly wean yourself off of your nicotine addiction. There are directions on the packages for use, and many people find this method a great way to quit smoking. This way you can also wean yourself off at your own pace. Be sure to follow directions on the package very carefully. The best idea is to make an appointment with your doctor to discuss your plan. Some people do find this method unsuccessful because it does not satisfy the hand to mouth habit that smoking has developed. Unfortunately smoking usually becomes not only a physical addiction but a mental and emotional one as well.
Another option to consider is using medication to help you quit your smoking habit and nicotine addiction. Again, check with your doctor to discuss your options. Your doctor can prescribe a medication that is successful with few side effects. Of course, never take any medication that has been prescribed to someone else - the medication could adversely affect you or interfere with other medications you may be taking.
If you are successful in your quest to stop smoking, know that the process will go on for the rest of your life. The social aspects are still there, even if you’ve beat the addiction. In the beginning stages at least, you may need to change your lifestyle. An example of what this means is to consider how many people like a cigarette with their drinks. Until you gain some confidence it would probably be best to tell your friends you won’t go out drinking for a while.
If you smoke you should see your doctor immediately. Quitting now can add years to your life and help you avoid many diseases that can be contributed to smoking. Do yourself a favor and start quitting today.

No, I’m not crazy! I just thought it was a catchy title that would grab your attention and get you to read on.
The stool or more correctly, the legs of the stool are a metaphor for what I feel is one of the most important aspects of quitting smoking - SUPPORT. Picture if you will sitting down at the computer to write a letter on a stool with only one leg and how difficult it would be to remain on it. Sure, you can say ‘If the leg is in the middle of the stool, balancing shouldn’t be too hard.’ True, but what say the one leg is attached to the outer perimeter as normal? Do you think it would be much harder to concentrate on finishing your letter if most of your attention is spent trying not to fall over? Probably very difficult, I would think.
Now let’s add a leg to the stool. Does it become any easier to sit on? Of course it does. Now you only have to worry about the stool moving side-to-side or front-to-back, but not both so you only have to give it half as much attention. Much easier to concentrate on the task at hand.
How about a third leg? Is that any better? You bet - perfect stability. With this surefootedness we can focus all our attention on our task as we no longer have to worry about ending up on the floor if our concentration slips.
So what’s the point I am trying to make? A very simple one actually. By enlisting the help of support friends (legs) the efforts of quitting smoking won’t fall solely on you. There will be a couple of other friends there to assist you. Even four or five buddies to call on would not be excessive.
The important think to ask of the people whom you confide in for support is to ask that they remain at your disposal and not badger you with questions like ‘How is it going?’ everyday. You don’t want your support team to be a hindrance in trying to reach your goals, but a help. And one other thing. If you the courage to do it, make a deal with them and yourself in that if you ever decide you may want to have ‘just one’ cigarette that you MUST call each and every one of them and tell them you’ve decided to continue smoking. Make it through all your support ‘legs’ without being talked out of doing something silly like that and I would be quite surprised.
Get the right support and you will be free.

All too often I hear statements like, “Once I have gotten rid of my stress, I am going to quit smoking” or “It’s going to be my New Year’s resolution” or “I could quit right away, if it weren’t for (fill in the blank)”. You know what I’m getting at.
In order to quit the first thing you need to do is to write down exactly what the goal is you are after and come up with all the reasons why you want it. Once you’ve done this also make a note of all the excuses why you can’t achieve your goal.
Just putting excuses down on paper so that they are something solid you can see is enough to make some people look at how silly they really are. For others, they may have to analyze their list of excuses and figure out why they believe these reasons to be true. Usually it is due to repetition. You’ve been telling yourselves for years that these are the reasons why you smoke, and if you tell yourself something enough times, eventually it will become an ingrained belief, whether it is the truth or not.
I’ve listed some of the more common excuses here, but ultimately it is your responsiblity to list EVERY reason you think keeps you smoking.
“Smoking helps to keep me thin.”
Yes, it is possible that you may gain a little weight when stopping smoking. However it is usually less than 20 pounds (which, by the way is WAYYYY better for you than continuing to smoke would be). But if you take proactive steps to assure that when quitting, the only snacks available to you are healthy rather than high calorie comfort foods, this should not become an issue.
“Smoking makes me happy.”
If that’s the case, then why are you reading an article on quitting smoking? Truth is that I also said this exact same thing. It’s purely a defense mechanism so you can justify why you smoke to other people. The problem is that as I said before, if you say something enough times, eventually you will come to believe it. This is no different. So it’s time to be completely honest with yourself. Do you really enjoy smoking or is it just a lie you’ve come to believe? What do you love about it? Is it the coughing, the breathlessness, the stale smell in your hair, clothes, car and home? What is it that you truly appreciate about what smoking does for you? When you look at it that way and actually write the answers down, I think you’ll find that you really don’t like smoking very much at all.
The thing is that I am not trying to come across as mean or condescending, so please don’t take what I am saying the wrong way. No, what I am trying to do is be truly helpful by telling you that none of the excuses that you are currently using or have used in the past do anything for you other than keep you smoking and once you come to terms with this fact, the easier quitting will be.
Trust in yourself and you’ll find that you already have what it takes to beat these lies.

If you want to really quit smoking, you must first be clear that you are serious about it, and it is not just a passing fancy. In order to test your resolve to quit smoking you should form a small support group that will be there for you when you start to feel weak and find it difficult to stick to your decision. After all, it is not easy to break a habit. You need to be answerable to yourself and others to be able to battle with the so-called nicotine beast, other smokers and your subconscious. They can all be very persuasive threats on the road to quitting. That is why it is absolutely essential to have a solid support group of at least two or three other people. If you can have five, it is even better.
When you try to do it alone, you are more likely going to succumb to the overwhelming urge because you are answerable to only one person. But if you have a group, that’s a different ball game altogether.
When you work with a group, you are accountable to others.
It kind of works backwards to just being accountable to yourself. For example, let’s say you’ve been off cigarettes for a week and for whatever silly reason your mind has come up with, you figure you need a smoke. Well, before you can do that, you have to battle your inner demons and then live with the guilt that you have failed. But the nicotine beast, as I said, is very strong and you are only one person. Many people fall down at this point.
But what if you had five loyal soldiers standing between the nicotine demon and you? Ah, now that’s a completely new ball game.
The process
Set up a small support group for yourself whether it be via email, telephone, or a support forum. Tell these people your goal to quit smoking but also ask them not to pester you about it - just to be there when you need help and positive support. Use them for encouragement.
Now, lets see what would be the scene when the overwhelming urge strikes you to have a smoke. Now, you will have to fight not only your own guilty conscience, but also get past five people. You will have to tell them that you have decided to start smoking again.
If you can do this much, you need not do anything else. They will do the talking and you just have to sit back and listen without getting angry or upset. Chances are that they will talk you out of your momentary weakness and encourage you to stick to your resolve. And it may not even take all five voices to convince you. However, if you can make it through all five members of your support team and you still think that you can do with just ‘one’ cigarette, then you must know that it is not just one ” it is always the first one that will get you.
This is why the support system works so well - because now it’s six (your support team plus you) against the ‘one’.
As I say, the more you know about quitting, the more successful you will be. So get all the information you need BEFORE you try to quit. It’s much easier, believe me.
Happy quitting,
Darren Warmuth

Hypnosis beside from being used as a tool for treatment of certain ailments, which requires behavioral changes, has also been used for entertainment. When it is used for entertainment, it is called a hypnosis show. The effect of hypnosis show is not lasting. It actually last until the show is over.
While performing hypnosis in front of a large number of people it is important that the hypnotist chooses his topic wisely. He has to be extremely careful about picking up people from the audience to put in a trance. Once the person is in a trace, the hypnotist can plant any idea or suggestions in the mind o the said person.
As in all hypnosis cases, total coordination and cooperation from the volunteer is required in order for the hypnotist to be able to put the volunteer under a trance successfully. For him to selected suitable volunteers, the hypnotist uses a process call induction. During this process, the hypnotist, tell the audiences to close their eyes and listen to his command. By doing so, he will be able to see who is cooperative or not.
Members of the audiences who are not susceptible to the Hypnotist commands will be alert within the audiences. From this, the hypnotist will not select those who are resistant to his commands as volunteers.
When the hypnotist calls the willing volunteers onto the stage, this is when the actual show starts. One technique, which the hypnotist employs while calling upon the volunteers onto the stage, is to put a smaller number of chairs than participants on the stage. By doing so, this will create a competition among the volunteers.
The hypnotist then commands the volunteers to perform in various ways and they obey all his command as if they arte in a state of sleep. The hypnotist can make them believe that they are drunk. He can make them believe that they are aliens from another world and can thus only speak a strange language. The volunteers actually start speaking a strange language hearing this command. The volunteers come out pf the trance as soon as the performance is over, they do not stay in the same state of mind after the show and behave absolutely normally.

Finding a support system that works for you is crucial in becoming a non-smoker. It needn’t be a lonely, isolated journey which you take by yourself. Whether it be via an online forum, local church group, or through family and friends (excercise caution here), the key is to find people to help you in times of strife.
One of the most available tools is an online support group for those who do not have time to locate ‘real’ people. Through the online groups, you can reach out and connect with others who are striving to quit or those who have already quit. Nothing helps you get through cravings and challenges like seeing that other people have or are experiencing the exact same things you are.
Another option that a lot of people have found very helpful, is finding a local smoking cessation group. Often these group meetings may be held in a local hospital, at a library, or sometimes they meet at a church. Often you can find these meetings offered for free, or at the very least low cost in most cases.
Usually lasting about an hour or so, local support groups will give you the opportunity (as with online forums) to speak with others in the same situation as you. One of the huge benefits of course it the personal contacts you will make which could develop into quitting buddies. Having a buddy to assist you can be a great ally in remaining a non-smoker.
Although some methods of support are better than others, the important thing is that you have some to begin with - before you quit smoking. For without the support, quitting smoking is going to be one of the hardest tasks you are ever going to do. No sense doing it alone.

The process of interaction between a hypnotist and the sub conscious mind of a patient is defined as clinical hypnosis. This process actually plays a crucial role in the treatment of a patient. The majority of clinical hypnosis are conducted only qualified physicians as only they have the requisite knowledge about the mental health of a patient.
Nowadays clinical hypnosis have gained more prominences as it has become an accepted practice to consult a trained hypnotist to treat problems like drinking or smoking addiction. In fact, the use of clinical Hypnosis has also extended to the area of weight control where trained hypnotists have used hypnosis to treat obesity.
Most of us believe that hypnosis is a process in which the hypnotist whitewashes the patient’s brain and gives the brain a kind of a new beginning. It is not so. Hypnosis involves a huge time to show effects, and requires total co-ordination and co-operation from the person who is being treated. It is for this why the attitude of the patient is very important for proper treatment. In many cases, quite some sittings are required to achieve what the hypnotist had set out for. It all depends on the patient’s willingness to co-operate and accept the various positive suggestions that the hypnotist may recommend, and more positive the patient’s attitude, more sooner can the goal be achieved. For patients who wish to get rid of bad habits like smoking and drinking, extreme patience from the side of the patient is required for the result to be achieved.
A situation where a trained hypnotist treats a patient under hypnosis is called therapeutic hypnosis. Whereas hypnosis is self-induced by oneself using skills learnt from reading books or watching CDs, such a situation is termed a s self hypnosis. Clinical hypnosis differs from the rest in the respect that the hypnotist has a clear understanding of the mental aspect of the patient health. As such, it is a prudent idea where in case that you wish to seek treatment-using hypnosis, you consult a trained hypnotist qualified to treat you.
Most people who wish to quit their habits of drinking and smoking opt for this kind of treatment. It is believed that a chunk of the income that hypnotists get is from patients who wish to get rid of their smoking and drinking habits. Presently, there is not enough material to support the treatment of serious diseases like diabetes, cancer, etc., by hypnosis, but hypnosis can surely be used by cancer patients to lessen the pain that they experience.
